How to Make Slime with Contact Solution

Playing with slime isn’t just fun for the kids; slime can offer many health benefits for adults as well including therapeutic relief from anxiety, depression and ADHD. Creating slime involves the following materials: contact lens solution (that contains boric acid), water, baking soda, Elmer’s white school glue or other PVA glue, food coloring (optional), mixing bowl, measuring cup and a spatula. The recipe for how to make slime with a contact solution is quite simple. First combine 1 cup of PVA glue with ½ cup of water and mix well. Once mixed, add desired food coloring or any embellishments such as glitter. Next, add 1 teaspoon of baking soda to the mixture, stirring thoroughly. The mixture will be slightly runny. The last step is to add the important chemical reaction of 1 tablespoon of contact lens solution that contains boric acid (and sodium borate). Slowly pour the contact solution into the bowl and stir. The mixture will thicken quickly and as the slime begins to form and separate from the bowl, you can knead the mixture to help with its consistency. If the slime is still a little sticky, add a few drops of contact solution. Take caution with adding too much as the slime can harden. If desired, shaving cream can be added to the slime with a fluffier concoction. The slime can be stored in an airtight container and stored in the refrigerator to keep it from drying out.
